World Vision: Enduring change in Ethiopia means long-term commitment

World Vision's Dawn Goodwin, who has recently returned to the UK from Ethiopia, says that the organisation's staff on the ground are working tirelessly to respond to the immediate needs and build ongoing relationships with local communities to help them to achieve long-term change.

“Balancing these dual challenges is a difficult and complex process, and we desperately need to ensure that adequate and sustained resources are available to respond to the current crisis and to help communities as they continue to build greater resilience for the future,” she said.

“Things have changed and we are not in the same position that we were in 25 years ago. The work that has been ongoing since that time has doubtless made a significant difference.

“This kind of enduring change, however, is not simple to achieve nor does not happen quickly. It takes time and the ongoing commitment of all involved."
