Declaration on sustainable floodplain management: change of perspective (Floodplain declaration)

This paper elaborates a strategy from floodplain exploitation to floodplain sustainable use. It offers recommendations for action plan as well as some tools for the implementation of a methodology for provisioning sustainable ecological services of floodplains, in order to reverse floodplain degradation and increase ecological resilience and economic benefits.

This paper is based on the presentations and discussions at the International Conference on Ecohydrological Processes and Sustainable Floodplain Management: Opportunities and Concepts for Water Hazard Mitigation, and Ecological and Socioeconomic Sustainability in the Face of Global Changes.
