Implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action and the Pacific Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management Framework for Action 2005-2015: report for the period 2007-2009
Regional synthesis progress report:
This is a regional synthesis report on the progress of implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015. The Hyogo Framework for Action has been adapted in the Pacific as a regional DRM policy document entitled “An Investment for Sustainable Development In the Pacific Island Countries – Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management A Framework for Action 2005-2015: Building the Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters” (Regional Framework). This report uses the reporting guidelines prepared by the UNISDR to assist countries and organisations to respond to the reporting requirements that are set out in the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015.
The Regional Framework has six themes as follows: Theme 1: Governance – Organisational, Institutional, Policy and Decision-Making Framework; Theme 2: Knowledge, Information, Public Awareness and Education; Theme 3: Analysis and Evaluation of Hazards, Vulnerabilities and Elements at Risks; Theme 4: Planning for effective Preparedness, Response and Recovery; Theme 5: Effective, Integrated and People-Focused Early Warning Systems; and Theme 6: Reduction of Underlying Risk Factors.
