Negotiations on a new international climate agreement - roadmap towards a new agreement
This document provides an introduction to the extensive global cooperation within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It marks out the important milestones and gives a concise description of the key issues, including adaptation to climate change, on the path towards a new global climate agreement that can enter into force when the Kyoto Protocol’s first commitment period for industrialised countries expires on 31 December 2012.
The document also describes the climate work of the European Unions and Sweden’s role in bringing the negotiations in Copenhagen in December 2009 (COP 15) to a successful conclusion.
