Climate changed: people displaced
A thematic report from the Norwegian Refugee Council:
This report draws attention in countries that are particularly vulnerable to climate change. It explores who are affected by climate related displacement, and how they are assisted and protected, when displaced within the borders of their own country or across borders. It aims to raise awareness of displacement as one of the humanitarian impacts of climate change and urges for adaptation to climate change in order to avert, or reduce, the worst humanitarian consequences of it.
The report follows up on the recommendation that existing law and protection possibilities are further investigated to identify and address potential protection gaps, and that adaptation in developing countries are made a top priority along with mitigation in order to better prevent disasters and displacement. It also focus on Burundi and Somalia, which are considered among the ten most vulnerable countries in the world.
