The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

Storms sweeping across the Rocky Mountains have caused the highest avalanche danger since ratings started in 1973. More than 3,000 avalanches have already occurred in Colorado alone, and they are unusually large. As the climate warms, wet snow avalanches could start weeks earlier than normal, leading to a longer avalanche season and increasing the risk of disaster.
The U.S. military does not track climate costs because it does not have a system for recording climate-induced repair expenses or estimates on how much these impacts will cost in repairs, rebuilding, and adaptation. Without these records, the government can't work climate spending into future budgets or ensure a military base's continued operation.
With half the country located below sea level, the Netherlands has become experienced in water management and flood prevention projects. The country is exploring a new approach to flood resilience which gives more space to water in an urban setting, and focusing on anticipating flood disaster rather than responding to it.
Adaptation and mitigation will cost the world billions of dollars. Looking to the Dutch, who make about two percent of their GDP by exporting water expertise, Norfolk businesses, universities, and local government in the low-lying coastal city are trying to re-frame the risk of sea-level rise as an economic opportunity, reflected in the city’s 2015 resilience plan.
Dikes once protected an area near Nijmegen from flooding, but under a new policy for managing rising water levels due to climate change, the dikes have been moved back to allow a branch of the Rhine River to broaden out into its historic floodplain. The "room for the river" policy is meant to allow flooding in some areas in order to prevent worse flooding elsewhere.
That “Dutch way” goes back hundreds of years. Most of the country’s people live less than a meter above sea level, or even below it. But the 21st century poses new challenges, and the Dutch are taking it on with gates, seawalls, and other protection systems. With sea-level rise projections, cities around the world are turning to their expertise in living with water.
