This report addresses biosphere reserves and their ability to take up important challenges, such as loss of biodiversity, climate change, tourism and natural disaster prevention. It contains 28 case studies drawn from an international survey and good practices from UNESCO biosphere reserves in Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, USA, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, Australia, China, Republic of Korea, Russia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden, which demonstrate what biosphere reserves are already doing in this policy field.
