Agua y desarrollo: agenda municipal para la igualdad de género - Chiapas
Con este material, pnud busca poner en perspectiva el vínculo entre agua, género y desarrollo en el estado de Chiapas y con ello apoyar la planeación tanto de proyectos que consideren la importancia de asegurar la igualdad entre mujeres y hombres, como de acciones específicas hacia el empoderamiento de las mujeres, que en conjunto impacten de manera directa en la calidad de vida y en el desarrollo sustentable de Chiapas.
Los estudios “Agua y desarrollo. Agenda municipal para la igualdad de género” son resultado de un esfuerzo coordinado entre el Gobierno Federal, los Gobiernos de Chiapas y Veracruz, el Sistema de Naciones Unidas (SNU) y el Fondo para el Logro de los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (FODM), en el marco del Programa Conjunto de Agua y Saneamiento (PCAYS), OPAs 1816: “Fortalecer la gestión efectiva y democrática del agua y saneamiento en México para el logro de los Objetivos del Milenio”. Así como de los gobiernos municipales de: San Juan Cancuc, Sitalá y Tuxtla Gutiérrez, en Chiapas; y Tatahuicapan, Xalapa y Zongolica, en Veracruz.
El propósito de los documentos es contribuir, con información cuantitativa y cualitativa desde el enfoque de género y etnia, a la gestión del conocimiento sobre la situación del agua en Chiapas, Veracruz y Tabasco y los municipios seleccionados, además de resaltar el vínculo entre el desarrollo y la igualdad de oportunidades en la entidad. Si bien en México existe información general sobre acceso, uso y control del agua en el país, el reto urgente es contar con información municipal desagregada por sexo y analizada con perspectiva de género. Dichos documentos pretenden incidir en ese sentido, aportando información útil tanto a las y los tomadores de decisiones como a la ciudadanía.
