Climate change in the Hindu Kush-Himalayas: the state of current knowledge
This report synthesises the present knowledge about the consequences that climate change could have for the Hindu Kush-Himalayan (HKH) region. It states that ecosystem resilience, green sector mitigation, and adaptation to climate change are areas that should be strengthened through policy advocacy supported by evidence from rigorous research and verified information. The report captures the cutting-edge knowledge from the region in three major areas: climate and hydrology; biodiversity and ecosystems; and atmospheric changes.
The Hindu Kush-Himalayan (HKH) region encompasses an area of mountains in the eight countries of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan.
