Report on the Ramsar Advisory Mission to the Indus dolphin river Ramsar site and associated floodplains
This document reports on a expert team mission to the wetlands along the Indus River floodplains, which was intended to: (i) devise a workable and cost effective strategy for wise-use of the floods; (ii) make recommendations for alteration in the prevailing flood control strategy so as to obtain maximum benefit from the flood water; and (iii) identify high priority wetlands/Ramsar Sites for restoration by using the floods as a tool for restoration. It presents the overall recommendations of the Convention’s Ramsar Advisory Mission (RAM), based principally on the information that was collected during the RAM, from available references, and from the experience of the RAM team.
