Letter of 9 April 2015 from the Minister of Security and Justice to the House of Representatives on the state of the national safety and security strategy
This is a 2015 report from the Netherlands’ Cabinet to the Parliament on the themes national safety, security and crisis management. The letter gives special attention to the policy change from National Risk Assessment to a future National Security Profile in close relation to the security profiles of the 25 safety and security regions with focus on capabilities, and to the policy change from critical infrastructure protection to critical infrastructure resilience; and to the common goals of the cabinet with the safety and security regions and the strengthening of civil – military cooperation.
The report refers to the issue of disaster risk reduction in the Netherlands, in particular in relation to the new EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which promotes cooperation between the EU member states on disaster reduction and crisis management, and the Sendai Framework DRR 2015-2030. The report maintains that the all-hazard approach proposed in the Sendai Framework aligns with the domains the Netherlands has designated as five critical interests in the National Safety and Security Strategy, and is thus thus generally in line with current Dutch and EU policy.
