Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre - Newsletter #5
The newsletter of the Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre (Joint Research Unit, European Commission) is issued bi-monthly and reports the main activities of the DRMKC, including the news and events published on the site. In this third newsletter (October 2016), featured content include:
- Editorial, by Mr. Vladimir Sucha, Director-General of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission;
- Partnerships, including an agreement with the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) aiming to reduce disaster losses in some of the world’s most hazard prone cities with the aid of an initial €6 million grant from the EU.
- Innovation, regarding the use of technology for disaster management;
- Knowledge, with the outcomes of various workshops;
- Relevant upcoming events in Europe.
The Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre (DRMKC) is a European Commission initiative to improve and deepen the communication between policy makers and scientists in the field of disaster risk management.
