Assessment of Kenya's preparedness to disasters caused by natural hazards
This report details the findings of our study on Kenya's preparedness for floods, drought and disease outbreaks – human and animal. It looks at preparedness at the national and subnational level focusing on Mandera and Migori counties. The study assesses preparedness under different frameworks:
- governance and legal;
- preparedness capacity;
- linkages to international processes of disaster preparedness;
- and financial allocations to preparedness.
The report also presents case studies on disaster preparedness at the county level. Mandera County is classified as arid and semi-arid and is prone to droughts. Migori is prone to floods.
