Fighting fire with finance: A roadmap for collective action
This report serves as a resource on the role of private investment in forest restoration and conservation to manage wildfire risk, water supplies and other climate vulnerabilities in the U.S. through the Forest Resilience Bond (FRB).
Part I of the Roadmap report consists of three sections that introduce the need for forest restoration, the many stakeholders affected, and the market for conservation finance. As a whole, Part I provides an overview of the supply and demand of forest restoration.
Following the supply and demand framework from Part I, Part II establishes how the FRB specifically enables the supply of investor capital to meet the demand for forest restoration. The FRB’s combination of measurement, contracting, and financial structuring serve to bridge the gap between private capital and forest restoration.
Part III reflects on the FRB by examining risks, the development process, and the next steps to bring this financing to market.
