Disaster risk reduction works: A post-event DRR effectiveness assessment in Haiti
This report assesses the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction (DRR) interventions conducted in Haiti by member organisations of the Swiss NGO DRR Platform. The assessment was commissioned in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, which made landfall in southwest Haiti on October 4, 2016.
The report describes several key learnings that enabled the success of DRR efforts, including ways of working with local communities and existing administrative structures, having a long-term vision, and improvements to the dissemination of knowledge through the introduction of new DRR technologies and approaches.
The report is published in French, with a factsheet also available in English.
