Addressing the gender inequality of risk in a changing climate
Addressing the Gender Inequality of Risk and promoting Community Resilience to Natural Hazards in a Changing Climate is one of UN Women’s Flagship Programming Initiatives designed to ensure the effective integration of gender in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The programme supports women’s access to recovery services and products such as micro insurance, disaster compensation and social protection; and helps them adapt to alternative livelihoods that can withstand hazards; and ensures that women are better prepared when disaster strikes by increasing their access to early warning instruments and protection systems.
