Preparedness for effective response – considerations for epidemic preparedness
Preparedness for Effective Response (PER) is a cyclical approach designed to empower National Societies to become more creative and innovative in their disaster management actions and contribute to the coordination of national and global response systems. It provides guidance to National Societies on37 components of a robust National Disaster Preparedness for Response Mechanism, organized in 5 areas:
- policy, strategies and standards;
- analysis and planning;
- operational capacity;
- coordination;
- and operations support.
The tables in this document provide a brief overview of all Preparedness for Effective Response components and highlight specific aspects to take into consideration when a National Society is preparing to respond to outbreaks.
