Incident response system: basic and intermediate - Training module
This guideline gives an overview of the existing institutional and legal arrangements and Incident Response System (IRS) in India. It describes the organisation of the IRS and details the different command and general staff positions, various incident facilities, documentation requirements, etc. It is intended for the personnel involved in incident/emergency response to better coordinate among the responding agencies and to ensure that the personnel involved in such responses do not get overwhelmed by the incident and have the ability and competence to function well during an emergency.
This guideline is the reference book for training in IRS. This first course on IRS initiates participants into the system. It presents an overview of the management system of IRS and explains the picture of the system to allow the participants to work as groups on exercises and go through a team building process. It also gives an introduction to disaster management in India.
