Islamabad
Given the insecure and often rapidly changing environments in which aid agencies work, safety and security management is not an optional extra. It needs to be at the heart of humanitarian programmes. This five day course will enable participants to identify the key requirements for managing security in an organisational framework and practice essential techniques in risk management and crisis response.
The course draws on extensive field case studies, the current humanitarian environment and the security management practices used by humanitarian bodies internationally.
The content of this module has been informed by the National Occupational Standards (UK) in Security Management, and the material is aligned with the InterAction Minimum Operating Security Standards and ECHO Training Modules.
The module will be run as a five day intensive workshop involving presentations, group work, the production of a security plan and two simulation exercises.
