Master of disaster management and risk governance
Location
Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler
Degree
Master of disaster management and risk governance
Description
Globally effective processes such as environmental change or the increasing dependence on critical infrastructure are closely interlinked in multiple ways. Hazards, for instance floods, pandemics, or technical failures are considered as the triggers of losses in our modern world. However, the societal structures and the quality of disaster prevention and management are mainly responsible for losses. The University of Bonn and the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance are convinced that education can and should make a substantial contribution to disaster prevention and disaster management.
The goal of the master programme is a holistic academic training for professionals. Students deepen their knowledge and at the same time develop a broad and interlinked understanding for the multifaceted aspects of risk and disaster management. In this way successful measures within a holistic risk governance approach can be established for different types of problems. Accordingly, students and alumni work in diverse occupational fields, such as authorities and organizations of emergency management, companies providing critical services or the health sector.
