Présentation du programme
Inondations, tornades, ouragans, cyberattaques, feux de forêt, déraillements de train: la fréquence et l’importance des catastrophes ne cessent de se multiplier. En 2019, les pertes économiques liées aux catastrophes naturelles et aux désastres humains sont évaluées à plus de 140 milliards de dollars, et plus de 11 000 personnes sont décédées à la suite de ces événements à travers le monde.
Formations uniques dans les universités francophones en Amérique du Nord, le DESS vise à développer les compétences fondamentales dans le domaine et à les intégrer dans une pratique professionnelle. Ces programmes s’inscrivent directement dans les nouvelles approches mondiales en matière de réduction des risques de catastrophes.
Les perspectives d'emplois sont multiples et les personnes diplômées se retrouvent dans différentes organisations (privée, publique, humanitaire) et à différentes échelles (municipale, provinciale, fédérale et internationale).
Particularités de la formation
- Cheminement intensif à temps plein : deux trimestres pour le DESS.
- Approches pédagogiques actives : études de cas, résolutions de problèmes, simulations, séances de laboratoire, sorties sur le terrain.
Les activités du programme court visent le développement des compétences fondamentales en réduction des risques de catastrophes de sorte de pouvoir les intégrer dans une pratique professionnelle. En vertu des stratégies de pédagogie active privilégiées dans ce programme, les étudiants seront exposés à des cas, situations et problèmes réalistes, voire réels, et appelés à réfléchir de manière transversale, intersectorielle et multi-scalaire aux dimensions humaines, organisationnelles et sociétales propres à chaque événement. Cela leur permettra de s'approprier les savoirs et pratiques relatifs au développement de la résilience face aux catastrophes applicables dans leur domaine professionnel, que ce soit dans le secteur public, parapublic ou privé. Les personnes diplômées pourront réinvestir dans leur parcours professionnel, quel qu'il soit, les compétences contribuant à la gestion des risques, la réduction de la vulnérabilité et le renforcement de la résilience face aux catastrophes.

Nous suggérons à tous les candidats étrangers de déposer leur demande d'admission avant le 1er février pour le trimestre d'automne et avant le 1er août pour le trimestre d'hiver dans le but d'effectuer leurs démarches auprès des services d'immigration et d'arriver à l'UQAM à temps pour le début du trimestre visé.
