Ghana: National Disaster Management Organisation act, 1996
This act establishes a National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to be responsible for the management of areas affected by disasters and similar emergencies, and for the rehabilitation of persons affected by disasters. Specific disaster risk reduction provisions: article 2(2)(a) which states one objective of NADMO is to prepare national disaster plans for preventing the consequences of disasters; article 10(f) which states one responsibility of the National Committee is to analyse the nature of hazards, vulnerability, and risk situations in particular areas; article 10(g) and 10(j) which deal with information management; and other relevant articles include 2(2)(c), 14(a), and 16(a).
