Australia: State Counter-Disaster Organization act 1975
An act to provide for the establishment of a State Counter-Disaster Organization and a State Emergency Service and their powers, authorities, functions and duties. Article 10(a) gives the State-Counter Disaster Organization the power to coordinate the resources necessary to ensure that all steps are taken to plan for and counter the effects of a disaster. Specific disaster risk reduction provisions include: article 25(1)(a)(iv) and (v) and article 28(1) which deal with the economics of assisting in counter-disaster measures; article 26 which deals with local counter-disaster plans and measures; and article 35 which deals with livelihoods.
This act was amended by the State Counter-Disaster Organization amendment act 1999.
