Caribbean States: Plan of action of Pétion Ville
The Plan of Action of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), agreed upon at the 5th Summit of the Heads of State and/or Government of the Association of Caribbean States, addresses five main themes: (i) sustainable tourism; (ii) trade development and external economic relations; (iii) transport; (iv) disaster risk reduction; and (v) education, culture, science and technology.
Addressing the themes of disaster risk reduction and considering the vulnerability of Caribbean countries and territories to disasters associated with natural phenomena, ACS fosters international co-operation and capacity-building in the area of disaster risk reduction, in enhancing the provision of humanitarian assistance at all stages of a disaster and in promoting a culture of prevention and early warning systems. To this end, the following actions will be undertaken:
