Slovenia: Act on the protection against natural and other disasters, 2006
This Act regulates the protection of people, animals, property, cultural heritage and environment against natural and other disasters.
It defines as the basic tasks of the system of protection against natural and other disasters to be the following: (i) detection, monitoring and research of natural and other disaster hazards; (ii) prevention of natural and other disasters; (iii) notification, warning of and alerting to imminent danger and giving instructions on protection, rescue and relief; (iv) education and training for protection, rescue and relief duties; (v) organization of Civil Protection and establishment and maintenance of other forms of preparedness fo; protection, rescue and relief; (vi) self-protection, self-help and mutual assistance (hereinafter referred to as personal and mutua; protection); (vii) mobilisation and activation of protection, rescue and relief forces and resources; (viii) determination and implementation of protective measures; (ix) rescue and relief; (x) recovery from natural and other disasters up to the provision of basic living conditions; (xi) assessment of damage caused by natural and other disasters; (xii) international co-operation relating to the implementation of protection against natural and other disasters; (xiii) supervision of the implementation of regulations on the protection against natural and other disasters; and (xiv) providing assistance to other countries in the event of natural and other disasters.
