Dominican Republic: Strategic plan for climate change (PECC) 2011-2030
Vision
For 2030 the Dominican Republic to have improved the quality of life of human beings and to improve the health of ecosystems and their capacity to adapt to climate change. This will reduce vulnerability and contribute to the stabilization of greenhouse gases, without compromising their efforts to fight poverty and its sustainable development, promoting the transition to low-carbon economic growth.
Mission
For public entities and key actors of civil society to achieve a high level of information, awareness, education and commitment on climate change, its causes and consequences, and implement a strategy that integrates the development of socio-economic and environmental protection in response to their institutional ties and actions.
General Objectives
1. Organizational strengthening and positioning at national, regional and international level, of the National Council for climate change and the clean development mechanism.
2. Achieving high capacities to adapt to climate change, taking into account the knowledge of local communities, through the implementation of measures and actions suggested by competent authorities and assumed by the country.
3. Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, supporting economic growth in a sustainable way.
