Canada: Emergency management strategy - Toward a resilient 2030
The Emergency Management Strategy for Canada (EM Strategy) builds on the foundational principles articulated in the Emergency Management Framework (EM Framework) and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in order to establish Federal, Provincial and Territorial (FPT) priorities to strengthen the resilience of Canadian society by 2030. This Strategy also supports the roles and responsibilities outlined in the EM Framework, and seeks to guide FPT governments, and their respective EM partners, in carrying out priorities aimed at strengthening Canada's ability to assess risks and to prevent/mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
To implement the EM Strategy, Ministers tasked Senior Officials Responsible for Emergency Management to develop an FPT Action Plan to outline how each jurisdiction, in collaboration with their respective EM partners will advance each of the priority areas over the next five years, and to report back on progress at the next FPT Ministers' meeting.
