Plan de Contingencia Regional del SICA frente al COVID19
Los Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno de Honduras, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panamá, República Dominicana y el Viceprimer Ministro de Belize, ante la expansión del Coronavirus (COVID-19) a nivel global, declarado como pandemia por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), por iniciativa de la Presidencia Pro Tempore de Honduras y la Secretaría General del SICA, sostuvieron una reunión virtual de urgencia el 12 de marzo de 2020 con el propósito de identificar y adoptar medidas conjuntas y coordinadas entre los países miembros del SICA que complementen los esfuerzos que los países están realizando en este sentido. El resultado de esta histórica reunión fue la adopción de la Declaración “Centroamérica unida contra el coronavirus”.
La Declaración estableció los primeros pasos de la acción conjunta de los países participantes, de modo que como parte de los acuerdos adoptados se instruyó la elaboración del “Plan de Contingencia Regional orientado a complementar los esfuerzos nacionales para la prevención, contención y tratamiento del COVID-19. Además, se decidió mantener una fluida comunicación sobre la evolución natural de la enfermedad, los nuevos casos positivos COVID-19 y las medidas adoptadas como respuesta ante la pandemia.
