Inamura - No - Hi - A tale from Japan
Mr Gohei village chief was concerned about a tsunami since there had been an earthquake in the evening. He set up a fire to Inamura (rice sheaves) which was a call for the villagers to join him on top of the hill. There were shocked to see the burning inamura and tried to stop the fire. But when they saw the tsunami destroy their village down below, they understood that the fire save there lifes. This tale was produced following the December 26th 2004 earthquake in the Indian Ocean. It explains the origin of tsunamis, some important facts about them, and what should be done to save oneself from tsunami. (UNEsCO)
