Rationale
Developing tools and systems for supporting the implementation of disaster risk reduction (DRR) is an important area of work of the Disaster Management Systems Team of ADPC. The primary objective of such area of work is to conceptualize and help in developing specific tools and systems (in this case the interactive DRR information maps) which would increase regional cooperation on DRR.
Description of services
The scope of the services of the consultant would include the following:
-Conceptualizing the layout of the interactive DRR information maps linked with the online database along with the ADPC team
-Designing the interactive DRR information maps
-Work closely with the Database specialist in the ADPC team in designing the visual representation of the data
-Upload the system on the identified website and test
-A user manual on usage of the interactive DRR information maps
-Conduct an orientation training on the use of the interactive DRR information maps
Outputs
The consultant would be expected to develop the following outputs:
-Interactive DRR information maps (conceptualise, design, upload, pilot run and finalize)
-Users manual
-Deliver orientation training on usage of the interactive DRR information maps
Qualification and expertise
-Educational background: graduate or equivalent degree in geographical information system (GIS) or related subjects
-Professional background in product development preferably in disaster risk reduction or in the development sector
-Practical experience of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program and the application of GIS to mapping projects
-Good written and spoken English.
