Practical Action is currently seeking to recruit consultants with experience in the following areas:
Livelihoods & Making Markets Work for the Poor – M4P
- Analysis and design of frameworks for strategic improvement of key markets;
- participatory market chain analysis;
- market mapping;
- markets and sustainability;
- value chain performance;
- capacity-building;
- monitoring and evaluation.
Climate Change
- PAC is a consortium member of DEW Point and a network member of the Livelihoods Resource Centre; together with TI-UP these Resource Centres combine to create the DFID Climate Change Desk.
- This co-ordinated service represents a single point of contact where Climate Change related expertise can be access easily by Advisors, Programme Support Staff, and DFID’s in-country partners. The Climate Change Desk facilitates access to a ‘menu’ of technical support services.
To this end, PAC is currently recruiting consultants with skills in the following areas:
- Climate Change Adaptation, including: impact studies including sectors such as agriculture and food security, energy, water resources, infrastructure provision, education and health and key issues such migration and conflict; adaptation studies; economic analysis; scenario study e.g. population and climate scenarios; programme climate proofing including staff training; capacity building e.g. negotiating skills.
- Mitigation, including: advising on emerging mechanisms such as voluntary carbon markets and CDM; advising on mitigation issues in key emerging and transitional economies, including low carbon development.
- Mainstreaming of Climate Change into development initiatives, strategic country assessment including downscaling, event management / facilitation, desk-based scoping studies, preparation of technical and policy briefing notes, policy analysis, preparation of Terms of Reference, in-country programme scoping service including stakeholder/institutional analysis, independent reviews and programme evaluations, literature reviews and fact-finding, programme design, environmental impact assessment, fund management, baseline surveys, project appraisal, monitoring, evaluation, feasibility studies.
