Job overview
To support, monitor and develop the capacity of partners in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia to plan, implement and monitor emergency response projects.
Organizational requirements

Key responsibilities
Partner Advising and Capacity Development (40% of time)
- Facilitate or provide technical advice, training and mentoring to partner staff in order to improve the quality of project implementation and management skills
- Provide mentoring and advice to partner organisational staff (management, finance, logistics, and human resource) in order to ensure quality management support is provided to project managers
- Provide support to partners in project design for future disaster projects
- Facilitate coordination with other humanitarian actors in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia.
- Capacity build partner in risk reduction and disaster preparedness approaches.
Partner Project Monitoring (25%)
- Undertake regular monitoring visits to DEC projects to ensure compliance with performance against indicators, donor regulations, reporting requirements and technical quality.
Person specifications
Qualifications
- Degree or tertiary qualification
- Degree or tertiary qualification in a relief, Community Development or related subject
- Masters degree
Experience
- Proven experience in relief work
- Working knowledge of Red Cross Code of conduct and SPHERE.
- Proven experience of capacity building with partner organisations
- Implementation of emergency disaster projects
- Project management
- Experience of working with a variety of groups, including Churches, para-Church organisations, local NGOs, and international NGOs
- Experience of working in Disaster management
- Logistics and finance experience
- Experience of DEC
- Experience of working within the coordination system for NGOs and UN bodies
- Understanding of Tearfund’s 12 Quality Standards or knowledge of equivalent
Skills/abilities
- Fluent oral and written English
- Proposal and report writing experience
- Proven abilities in Planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation
- Training, Facilitation, and Mentoring skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- High level of competency in Microsoft Excel and ability to manage complex multi-donor budgets
