Responsibilities
Under the guidance and directives of the Head of the office, and under the direct supervision of the relevant officers designated by the Head, the intern will peform the following functions:
- conduct research on the current training programs and guidelines in disaster risk reduction (DRR), urban risk reduction, climate change adapatation (CCA) and sustainable development
- carry out deskbased research and write brief stories and summaries
- assist in undertaking outreach research and developing outreach strategies for the short, medium and long term
- assist in maintaining Platform of Platforms for technology, education and communication
- assist in the preparation of trainings, workshops, and other public events
- maintain an up-to-date list of contact addresses and publication distribution lists
- perform ad-hoc assignments as required by the Head or supervisors
Learning Opportunities during the course of the Internship
- Interns will have the opportunity to learn about major issues and challenges in building resilience to disasters globally and regionally and to work with national and local government agencies and a range of international agencies for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
- Interns will gain practical knowledge of the work of the UN and other international institutions and UN procedures, rules and regulations and protocol arrangements
Education
- Students currently enrolled in a master degree or Ph.D. programme (or equivalent) in Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation, Development Studies, International Studies, MICE(Meeting, Incentives, Conference and Exhibition), or other relevant areas
Other Skills
- Knowledge of interantiaonl relations and current development issues
- Basic knowledge of DRR and CCA
- Good spoken and written English skills
- IT and design compentency will be an asset
- Knowledge of local language (Korea) is preferable.
