Background
TheIDLgroup works mostly in Africa around food security and Disaster Risk Reduction, and are increasingly asked to look at the convergence between livelihoods/climate change adaptation, with disaster risk reduction and social protection. The work there is mainly for World Bank, DFID and multi-donor groups.
Job requirements
theIDLgroup is looking for a DRM specialist for about 6 weeks of work between now and December in the horn of Africa. Initial inputs would start 2-3 weeks in June/July and the remaining would finish later in the year.
They are looking for someone senior with over 20 years of experience who has worked specifically amongst donors and their Disaster Risk Management strategies. This person would need to be familiar with strategic frameworks, strategic planning and further investment frameworks. Political process skills is required as the position needs to be dealing with the politics of multiple donors.
The specialist is expected to ensure a strategic plan between government donors and partnered governments on their Disaster Risk Management frameworks.
