Position description

The Senior Programme Officer (SPO) will support the objectives of the Disaster Management Unit by scoping and analysing donor trends and identifying long-term strategic funding opportunities with institutional and multi-lateral donors. The post holder will contribute towards Plan International’s strategic development by working with and through colleagues to meet demanding quality delivery standards and annual income targets. Specifically, the post holder will support country, regional colleagues and team members in high-quality project development, submission and reporting, providing technical input and guidance on donor requirements, particularly for the ECHO, EU, DFID, and multilateral agencies.

The post holder will take primary responsibility for a specified portfolio of projects. S/he will also support the DRMU line managers to draw on the technical expertise of department specialists to enhance programme quality in thematic priority areas, as well as to support the capacity and skills development of Country Office programme staff to effectively develop, manage and report on projects.

Required experience


The successful candidate will have experience of developing and securing institutional grants and managing supporting the management of complex projects overseas and reporting to official funders.

Experience of identifying, developing and securing partnerships with new donors and developing/applying quality systems and processes to their work is also essential. You will also possess a track record of successful project management in disaster-affected countries
