A wealth of knowledge-based resources on drought risk management (DRM) exists in Africa, yet the opportunities for sharing successful experiences, disseminating lessons learnt and up-scaling innovative practices are still limited. In recognition of this, the UNDP Drylands Development Centre has been managing the Africa-Asia Drought Risk Management Peer Assistance Project (AADP) with the financial support from the Government of Japan through the Japan-UNDP Partnership Fund since 2010. The project seeks to: (a) create an enabling environment for inter-regional knowledge sharing and technical cooperation among drought-prone countries in Africa and Asia; and (b) increase the use of best practices in DRM for development in the two regions.

The expected outputs of the Project for the 3-and-half-year period (2010-2013) are:
1) A coordination framework guiding applied information sharing mechanisms developed between Africa and Asia in the areas of drought risk reduction and management.
2) Availability and accessibility of knowledge and experiences in drought risk management increased in the two regions.
3) Mainstreaming of innovative options linking drought risk and development into policies and practices enhanced and capacity of decision-makers and practitioners built in integrated drought risk reduction.

The main objectives of the final project evaluation are 1) to assess achievements of AADP, i.e. the extent of attainments of the intended objectives, outcomes, outputs and activities as defined in the results and resources framework, and 2) generate findings on opportunities, constraints/challenges and lessons learnt during the implementation of the Project. This home-based evaluation shall be carried out through a combination of data generation methods. The main product of the final project evaluation will be a Final Project Evaluation Report. The language of the report is English.
