Support Philippine Red Cross to help thousands of people rebuild their lives in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. You will use your disaster management or community development skills to support the ongoing disaster recovery efforts of Red Cross branches in the Visayas region.

This is a volunteer assignment under the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program, an Australian Government initiative. Airfares, living allowances, accommodation, insurance and other support is provided through the program.

Philippine Red Cross is one of the premier humanitarian organisations in the country, committed to providing quality life-saving services in blood, disaster management, safety, community health and nursing, social services and volunteers.

In November 2013 Typhoon Haiyan devastated the islands of Leyte, killing thousands, damaging and destroying 1.1 million houses and displacing more than four million people. It is estimated that more than 16 million people were affected.

Specific chapter locations will be assigned during the recruitment and mobilisation process based on the skill set of the volunteer and needs of the chapter.
