Antea Group will conduct a climate risk, vulnerability and needs assessment in Papua New Guinea. For this assignment the organization is looking for a socio economist, who will be in charge of assessing the economic vulnerability to climate induced hazards. The work will include desktop study and field missions. The global objective of this assignment is to improve disaster risk management in Papua New Guine by identifying climate risks in terms of, principal climate hazards that affect the province and the extent of exposure and vulnerability.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in climate change and disaster risk assessment studies.
- Masters degree in related fields.
- Experience working with international organizations and in developing countries.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Experience in assessment of economic vulnerability to climate induced hazards (direct losses, indirect losses, secondary effects, …).
- Knowledge or experience of Papua New Guinea or similar context (Pacific Islands) is an advantage.
