Institute of Social and Policy Sciences (I-SAPS) is a national policy research institute working across Pakistan to undertake multi-disciplinary research, develop human resources and inform public policies. I-SAPS seeks services of a Program Coordinator/Research Fellow (Disaster Risk Reduction/Management) for managing and executing various long term and short term assignments. The position requires expertise in disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, and livelihoods. The selected candidate will be responsible for program planning, execution, reporting and information services, report writing, public outreach and data management in the areas related to DRR/M.

Major responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, develop and implement analytical research projects within prescribed theme with a clear iteration of objectives, target audiences, deliverables, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Organize and conduct seminars, policy dialogues, training workshops and meetings for policy advocacy, awareness raising and capacity building in the focus areas.
  • Prepare reports and various written outputs based on information gathered and analysis; draft reports and background papers; provide inputs to publications, etc.
  • Prepare concept notes and proposals for new research and advocacy work in the areas of disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and livelihoods.
  • Develop and maintain liaison with key stakeholders including but not limited to international humanitarian agencies, international and local CSOs working in the program area, policy makers, relevant ministries and departments to ensure effective advocacy and outreach

Qualification:

  • Masters Degree or relevant advanced degree in Law, Public Policy or Social Sciences.
  • At least 7 years program/project management experience with minimum 5 years of experiences in DRM related activities.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, etc.

Skills Required:

  • Outstanding analytical and conceptual skills to structure and undertake policy and inter-disciplinary research.
  • Excellent writing skills in English and report writing.
  • Advocacy and communication skills.
  • Expertise in project management tools and techniques.
