Purpose of the team
To deliver an integrated approach to Tearfund's international work, with responsibility for the delivery of Tearfund's 4 corporate outcomes and the three Corporate Priorities:
- Outcome 1: Church envisioned
- Outcome 2: Communities developed
- Outcome 3: Policies changed
- Outcome 4: Disasters responded to
To ensure the implementation of the Corporate Priorities: Church and Community Transformation, Fragile states, and Economic and Environmental Sustainability within the country programmes in line with the Tearfund strategy.
Job overview
To lead, support, equip and encourage Country Leads to enable Tearfund's vision, outcomes and priorities within a specific region and within the global parameters laid out to ensure ‘one Tearfund’. To represent and support all aspects of Tearfund's work in the region, linking into appropriate regional churches/ bodies and to link with fellow regions leads to ensure learning both within and across regions. In addition, provide strategic leadership to the whole International Group effort alongside other members of the IG Senior Management Team.
Position in the organization
- Reports to the International Director
- Member of the IG Senior Management Team
- Based in Region hub
- Works closely with other members of International Group Senior Management Team and with Group leaders, country leads of their specific region and team members across the organisation
- Represents Tearfund and advocates on behalf of Tearfund, partners and people living in poverty with churches, external networks, donors and governmental bodies

Dimensions and limits of authority
- Accountable for overall region budget (total of all country budgets) with sign-off approval as specified in GPS (the Global Process System).
- Responsible for ensuring an integrated approach to all Tearfund international work within the region through the appropriate empowerment of the Country Leads and their teams, while operating within global policies and procedures.
- Overall responsibility for Country Lead recruitment, performance management, development, talent management and welfare within the global policies and direction on these issues.
