ICEM – International Centre for Environmental Management is an award-winning independent technical service centre that assists government, the private sector and communities to define and implement policies for sustainable development. Established in Australia 1999,

ICEM has its regional headquarters in Hanoi and is staffed by full-time international and national technical and administrative personnel. Since 2016, ICEM also has an office in Yangon, Myanmar. ICEM works in Asia and the Pacific - especially in the Mekong countries and focuses on climate change, water resources management, disaster risk management, energy efficiency and renewable, environmental assessment, environmental economics, and biodiversity conservation. ICEM seeks to integrate environmental concerns with development through spatial planning, modelling, socio-economic analysis and environmental assessment tools.

ICEM is now seeking to employ a Senior International Staff member based in Yangon, Myanmar on a two-year renewable contract. Applicants should have academic qualifications in engineering or science and international experience in any of the following fields:

  • Climate change

  • Water resources management

  • Environmental assessment

  • Environmental and ecological economics

  • Integrated natural resource management

  • Biodiversity conservation

  • Disaster risk management

  • Energy efficiency and renewables

  • GIS, modeling and spatial analysis

Interested professionals should have a master’s degree or doctorate and at least eight years relevant working experience with development projects in the South East and South Asia region. Experience working with the Government and with donor and other international organisations in Myanmar is desirable. Interested professionals are expected to be familiar with the emerging donor and development landscape in Myanmar. He or she should have experience in project management, preparing proposals and technical reports, managing inter-disciplinary teams including nationals, and in office management.

Applicants should be fluent in English with proven writing and presentation skills and advanced computer software skills working with MS office. The applicant will be working from the Yangon office, following initial orientation in Hanoi.
