Dealing with disasters 2008 international conference: putting resilience into response

This conference follows on from the highly successful events held in Teesside in 2006 and Northumbria in 2007.

The 2008 conference will have the following main themes:

  • Disaster healthcare
  • Industrial risk management
  • Forensic investigation
  • Planning for resilience
  • Business continuity planning
  • Emergency services
  • Natural hazards
     
    There will also be opportunities to view the World Rescue Challenges.
     
    Speakers will include:
  • Edwina Hart, Minister for Health and Social Services, Welsh Assembly Government
  • David Alexander, Professor of Disaster Management, CESPRO – University of Florence who will talk about “Integrated emergency response – a resilience perspective”
  • Bill Kitchen, Chairman of the Airport Fire Officers Association
  • Malcolm Knowles, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, Washington Hall.
