The purpose of this course is to build the capacity of health and development workers and their organizations to be able to establish efficient, coordinated and flexible systems for managing disasters and improve sustainable development.

The following units will be covered:

- Introduction to emergency management
- Natural and technological hazards
- Early warning and contingency planning
- Risk and vulnerability analysis and hazard mapping
- Disaster mitigation and preparedness strategies
- Resource management under disaster conditions
- Cybe terrosims
- Disaster response strategies (ICS Model)
- Hazardous materials preparedness
- Community based disaster response
- Emergency first aid (3 days)
- Counselling and psychosocial care
- Disaster recovery and rehabilitation
