Background
Local Climate Solutions for Africa 2011 is a unique and accessible platform for African local leaders, their associations, national governments, scientists, technical experts, development partners, business, industry and civil society to engage on climate change challenges and solutions for Africa.
Local Climate Solutions for Africa 2011 takes place ahead of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP17 scheduled for later next year in South Africa.It provides a key opportunity to share global good practice and locally appropriate solutions and technologies towards accelerated climate action on the ground.
The Congress, convened by ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, will prepare local champions and key stakeholders for the UNFCCC COP17, with a specific focus on mobilisation of resources and partnerships for local mitigation and adaptation to climate action.
