Workshop overview:

Local Government New Zealand is hosting a workshop in Wellington on natural hazards, where local government decision makers, central government representatives and experts, will be able to engage in dialogue and draw conclusions on risk management in the natural hazards context. Confirmed speakers include Professor Bruce Glavovic, EQC Chair of Natural Hazards Planning, Simon Berry and Judith Cheyne on the legal situation, Hugh Cowan, EQC on insurance, and Treasury will speak on the economic impact of the Canterbury earthquake. Presentations and discussion will canvas a range of natural hazards including coastal, earthquake and flood. This is not a technical discussion, but it will canvas the range of influences that impact on risk in the natural hazards context.
