Regional workshop on good practices and policies in CBDRR in South East Asia
Under the Seventh DIPECHO Action Plan for Southeast Asia funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection (ECHO), Malteser International, Action Aid Myanmar and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) would like to jointly invite you in a Regional Workshop on Good Practices and Policies in Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction for Southeast Asia, to be held on 22-23 September 2011 in the Kantary Hills Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Learning from and sharing knowledge on CBDRR policies and good practices is necessary for improving community’s resilience to natural hazards. It can help various stakeholders including communities, humanitarian agencies and governments to understand, adapt and apply evidenced-based approaches. The sharing of good practices will also contribute to the AADMER Work Programme (2010-2015) in the strengthening of CBDRR initiatives, practices and policies in the region.
Workshop objectives
- To recognise innovative CBDRR good practices undertaken by various stakeholders and discuss on how to disseminate them effectively.
- To promote a culture of learning, sharing and adaption of disaster risk reduction practices and policies towards achieving synergy of efforts in working towards resilient communities.
- To exchange knowledge and promote good practices and policies which will provide guidance in undertaking effective CBDRR programmes.
- To contribute to the AADMER Work Programme on developing sound principles for CBDRR.
