The Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011 in Japan, is a disaster that will forever remain in the history books. Due to this unprecedented calamity and the crisis, we should rethink the mission and the role of engineering, and set out on a new course of action.

In this symposium, damage of the disaster, accident of nuclear power plant and mission of the engineering and education systems will be discussed through the issues on engineering revealed by the unprecedented disaster.

Cette conférence sera consacrée à l’expérience du désastre traversé récemment par le Japon : le tremblement de terre, le tsunami et la catastrophe nucléaire de Fukushima.

Avec les interventions de Professeur Koichi Maekawa du département de Génie Civil, par le Professeur Naoto Sekimura du département de Génie Nucléaire et par le Professeur Takehiko Kitamori, doyen de la faculté d’ingénierie de l’université de Tokyo.

La conférence sera suivie par une séance de questions avec M. Yves Bamberger, conseiller scientifique du président d’EDF.
