The European Development Days (EDD) has developed into Europe’s premier forum on international affairs and development cooperation. This year’s headline theme will be sustainable and inclusive growth for human development and the forum will take place over two important dates: World Food Day (16 October) and International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (17 October).

ECHO will mark its 20th anniversary through three high-level panels on Tuesday, focusing on three key areas of humanitarian aid: Resilience ('A More Effective Partnership for a More Resilient World'), where Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva will give the keynote speech; Forced migration and displacement ('World Disasters Report 2012: Forced Migration and Displacement ') and Disaster risk reduction in the age of climate change. During the evening Commissioner Georgieva will also give a special address.

On Wednesday, ECHO will be present in the discussion 'Taking on the Challenge of Fragility'. These high-level discussions are part of ECHO's 20th anniversary closing events.
