Practising Reflection: Reflective Practices in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
Practising Reflection: Reflective Practices in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is a short course for continuing professional development (CPD). Practising Reflection will give you the knowledge and skills to introduce reflection and associated reflective practices into your organisation’s response to environmental and non-environmental disasters. The United Nation’s international convention on Disaster Risk Reduction in 2005 urged the international community to change its focus from reactive to proactive disaster response. This niche course plays a key role in progressing this agenda by introducing ‘reflective response’ one that is based on critical reflective practices and systems thinking as fulcrum of developing organisational resilience to disasters.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this course students will be able to:
- Explain orally the importance of using ‘reflective practices’ in disaster risk reduction (DRR)
- Analyse case studies using the knowledge and tools of reflective practices
- Understand the linkage between critical reflective practices and systems thinking to improve organisational resilience
- Ability to apply some tools/methods of reflective practices at work places.
