International Conference on Technologies for Development 2016: From Innovation to Social Impact

This is a unique multidisciplinary platform for technological innovation that brings together over 400 participants from 60 countries.

One of the core thematic areas of Tech4Dev 2016 is Science and Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction. Breakout sessions focusing on DRR include:

  • SE02-HUM - UAVs: Opportunities and Challenges for International Aid and Global Development, Andrew Schroeder, Humanitarian UAV Network - UAViators, United States
  • SE08-DRR - Early Warning Systems: Design and Implementation, Holger Frey and Christian Huggel, University of Zurich, Switzerland
  • SE09-DRR - Open Geodata and Imagery for Humanitarian Mapping, Cristiano Giovando, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, United States
  • EV03-DRR - Data, Dialogue, and Learning for Increased Resilience, Nancy McGuire Choi, Development Gateway, United States

Tech4Dev 2016 gives you an opportunity to:

  • Promote programs and approaches for inclusive social and economic development in the Global South.
  • Reinforce collaboration among key stakeholders – academics, entrepreneurs, innovators, field practitioners, policy makers, and private sector professionals – for a holistic approach to technology development.
  • Build capacity among students to engage in multidisciplinary problem solving for social impact.
  • Network at the fabulous social event of the Conference taking place in the Lavaux Vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
